Casual Positions - (Narrabri)

Essential Employment and Training (EET) offers a range of flexible activities and supports to people with disability, including personalised activities in line with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

We currently run programs that assist people with disability of all ages to develop the skills they need to achieve their life goals, increase their independence and participate as a valued and active member of the community. We are looking for staff who can not only relate to our participants but can also demonstrate their ability to be innovative and engaging members of our team.

To work with people with disability at EET, you need to be a very positive, enthusiastic and motivated person, with a willingness to enable and empower people with disability of all ages.

You also need to have a diverse range of skills, attributes and interests

Essential Criteria:

Demonstrated ability to:

  • support and mentor  a person with disability using person-centred approaches
  • support people with disability to integrate into community activities and to have genuine social and economic (if relevant) participation.
  • be innovative and creative in finding solutions to individuals' needs and aspirations – whether these are life/social skills or employment-related skills
  • adapt to change
  • work as part of a dedicated team

and also have:

  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to work flexible hours
  • current Driver' s Licence
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain in your own time and at your own expense


Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in working with people with  disability
  • Relevant Training / Qualifications - (e.g. training and education / individual support / disability)
  • Extra curricular activity skills such as sport, art, music, dance, drama, cooking, photography etc.

If successful in being offered this role, you will be required to provide a Working with Children Check clearance number & a National Criminal History Record Clearance, prior to commencing in the role.

  • The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances.

  • You must also provide a National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.

The Disability Inclusion Act 2014 prohibits a person who has been convicted of a criminal offence as outlined in Schedule 2 of the Act to be employed to provide supports and services directly to people with a disability in a way that involves fact to face or physical contact.  These offences include:

  • Murder

  • A prescribed sexual offence as defined under the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 (or equivalent law in other states or territories)

  • Specified other assaults under the Crimes Act 1900 (or equivalent law in other states or territories) for which the person was sentenced to 2 or more years imprisonment.
